A mooch day is vital to my existence. What's a mooch day? Well, today was one of sleeping late (which was a surprise) and then the grey sky made it feel timeless all day. Breakfast was 'late', lunch even later but I did get some laundry done. I also did some digital admin and make a couple of catch-up calls.
My brother went out to clear up some leaves in the garden. I considered helping him but as I stepped outside, the cold wind grabbed my chest so I shuffled back inside and watched him from the window. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a banana and the words 'health snack' jumped into my brain.
Grilled cheese on top of banana is a delicacy that we first experienced way back in the '70s. Our Saturday morning ritual of visiting our small town centre had my dad sit in the men's bar after he'd put his horseracing bet on. The women sat in the small Wimpy and on the odd occasion we'd visit the coffee shop just up the road. I think it might have been called 'Fruit and Nut' Cafe, come to think of it now.
There wasn't usually a lot of my pocket money left so I probably bummed a sandwich from some kind adult. The treat came from this new taste sensation of melted cheese and banana! It was delicious. So today I grilled it and turned back the taste buds to that little girl adventure.
My time in Scotland is nearing the end so it's been a great slow pace to thoroughly enjoy the moment. Tomorrow is packing and sorting day which is trickier now with thicker, heavier clothes to transport. But no doubt, I'll manage.
