Malls and music

Friday 14th October 2022

Today we went to a large mall. Bluewater mall. It's very much like the South African malls and a lot of the same brand shops were in it. Stores like H&M,  Typo, Starbucks and of course,  Krispy Kreme which I'm proud to say I resisted. It was interesting walking around the fancy department stores like House of Fraser and Lewis and feeling all the furry winter textures. It was really nice knowing that I won't be needing the heavy winter clothes because in a couple of weeks I will be sweltering in the Jozi spring.

After our whizz around the different levels we headed back east and I sat appreciating the Autumn canopy surrounding the motorway. It's fascinating seeing how slowly the trees change colour. Johannesburg Autumn leaves take about a week to change. Unfortunately my camera didn't catch many examples so I let my eyes feast instead.

Tonight we caught up on music videos and I am quite envious of some of the bands that my friends have seen.  Early days David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, even Marc Bolan. It's been fabulous catching up on a lifetime with my friend and I'm very glad that I was able to spend such a long time with her.

Tomorrow I head back to London with a full heart.
