Mad to the max (not quite)

Saturday 10th February 2024

Cars. Yup. Love them and hate them. This morning was one of those mornings when I realised that no matter how nice the mechanic was, he didn't trust my information that I'd found online about my sister's Fiat and ran his 'diagnostic machine' instead. Result? Same errors 8km away from the garage. Sigh. Now my sister wants to return it to Fiat.

This car story meant that I had to rethink my road trip. Did I mention that I'm not really fond of driving? Haha. So now flights have been arranged and cars in the Cape sorted. I'm quite relieved in a way.

All this car drama made me realise how I've put up with driving an old and possibly unreliable car. That kind of thinking also ties in with my old pattern of small goals and settling for less than. However driving my blue beast of a car for those 3 magical months shifted something into feeling safe, powerful and dependable. Yes, my prize car was 2 years ago but it etched something into my psyche and altered my thinking.

For now though, I'm zipping around in my Smartie, that Nic managed to save and fix. It's bumper is still being repaired, I hadn't seen the cracks so it looks like a car from the movie Mad Max, last century. ( 1979 to be precise!!!)

It took me down the hill to continue celebrating Lil' sister's birthday with the running girls, however Marlene had a family emergency so it was only 3 of us, eating waffles and catching up with Cerlest.
