Mackintosh and Tea

Tuesday 20th September 2022

I hopped on the bus with the intention of visiting an old neighbour but the bus said 'Glasgow' on it so I stayed on it all the way into the city. It was a mild weather day so was really pleasant walking about,  pointing my camera upwards mostly at the fascinating buildings.

I was also quite constructive in my shopping and ended up getting what was written on my mental list. I also managed to stop in at the 'Mackintosh at the Willow' tearoom. Inspired by the celebrated Glasgow artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh, it was on my bucket list ever since I did a skit on his wife Margaret. You can watch it here if you like.

I was grinning to myself while eating my fruit scone with clotted cream, about how my skits have been like small wishes fired into the cosmos and now coming true. The tea room is superb and really worth visiting even though the Sauchiehall street round about it has been hard hit by the lockdown and online shopping.  It was still rather vibey with some buskers, beggars and beauties.

I took the bus back to my brother's knowing that I had an initial 20 minute wait for the specific bus so I could avoid changing buses. I got myself a high seat and watched the buildings close up and eavesdropped on passengers on their phones. Aye.
