Last night in mud fountain

Saturday 6th January 2024

My last full day of this house sit started early. I woke up before Rusty and started getting ready. He looked rather tired when I opened the door but was still very keen to get out and Carpe Diem. The cloudy sky was already presenting it's masterpiece in pink so I was content to walk into the dawn and let it settle into my bones. My chest pain was gone and there was just a tiny twinge in my knee so I was feeling really upbeat.

Being Saturday, we headed out of the estate and round the dam and I was sad to see so many people out and about. It was 5.30am and there were cyclists, runners and a man with a pram and 2 dogs. How dare they use my time slot for exercise? Haha. New Year resolutions getting people out of their comfort zones and into my zones.

One of my friends who semigrated to the Cape was in town, so I'd planned to pop round to the west side of the city to see her. She'd booked breakfast with other friends and I managed to join them for a while. It's fun being able to catch up with people in person, even though a lot of my connections totally rely on the internet.

It was still hot when Rusty started pawing me for his afternoon walk but I decided to take him for an extra long loop which he seemed happy with. I made quite a yummy supper with the last of my fresh food and I had a couple of internet chats while listening to the crickets charm their way through a perfect summer evening. The cat climbed into his box looking all handsome so of course my camera came out. It's been a fabulous (almost) 3 weeks of animals, walks, TV and sleeping. A great way to ease into 2024.
