The sun came out strongly this morning and changed the moody landscape completely. I was in no rush to leave my bnb and was fortunate to be shown the inside of the private heritage home. The floors, doorways, fireplaces and the history was fascinating.
Less than 2km from my bnb was a delightful golf course resort and I stopped in for a 'complete golfer'. The world looks like that shiny green of spring and I kept pulling over to take pictures.
I only had a 2 hour drive to tonight's venue so I pulled in for petrol and a coffee at yet another delightful restaurant, the Windmills. With a strategically placed porch to capture the view while hiding the N3 motorway, I was very impressed with some stunning gardens developed during the lockdown period.
My drive on the highway was fairly pleasant and when I turned off to the regional road I slowed down to concentrate on the potholes and try sneak peeks at the views. Fortunately a truck ahead of me kept warning me of the huge potholes as well as the unmarked speed bumps. I pulled into a side street in Winterton, because I saw a 'museum' sign (who is this person? Lol) The ladies outside told me it closes at 1, although the sign says 4. But the stone building was still a beauty.
Approaching the picture frame of the Drakensberg ampitheatre is just incredible although my resort is still a fair drive away from the mountains. I passed the backpackers lodge I stayed at on my journey down and reflected on how long ago that feels like.
My resort has hot pools which I ventured into, even though it is the hottest day I have felt in 3 months. I have stayed here before with my running girls so I had a good lay of the land. The hot swim made me lay down early and I had already dozed off under the aircon. I woke up to write this blog entry and looking at my photos of the day makes me feel in awe of what a beautiful planet we live on.
