It feels like I have won a car again, except it's a job! And not one of the many I had been considering but one I thought about last in 1988. Freelancing in TV sound. It was a passing thought when I returned to my full time job in South Africa. 'Why didn't I try freelance when I didn't get the full-time position at the BBC?'
And to add to the magic of the moment, the production is the Scottish Open Golf tournament! I'm both super excited and terrified, much like I was feeling about driving a huge powerful 7 seater car. But I handled that beauty, so now to handle this opportunity.
I haven't worked in TV since 2006, so that's quite a while so I'm hoping that it's not all changed. But I'm learning to really, really trust the flow and be 'open' ( pun intended) to the adventures that have been showing up in my life.
Today between trains, I stopped by at the Glasgow City Chambers, a stunning building that I've stared at countless times while sitting with the pigeons on George's Square. A friend recently, told me to go inside. Today I did. Another stunning building!
Not only did I see old Madiba but chatted with a fellow adventuring Saffa, and made a new friend! It is amazing how many similar things we'd both been through and she's living in London.
I'm loving every moment of my life, despite sore feet, sore shoulders and haircut-needing hair.
Onwards to the Open I go, aye.
