Isle of Wight

Updated: Oct 25, 2022

Monday 24th October 2022

I woke up early this morning and was immediately excited about today's trip to the Isle of Wight. I decided to have a hot breakfast at the hotel because I knew that I would be travelling over lunchtime.  Fortunately the sun came out and the one train was rather full with it being school mid-terms. I managed to get seats that carried my bag so I travelled comfortably until I was spat out at Southampton station.

The ferry trip was amazing and I was smiling the whole time. I was thinking about my excitement of it all and I realised that having been in South Africa all my adult life, I'm appreciating the 'first world' style of public transport even more. The cars drove on guided by the crew and the ferry moved out in a very smooth way. On board there's a Cafe serving hot food, gifts and very comfortable chairs.  It's all very organised and I was a bit disappointed when we pulled into the harbour.

My bnb is in a residential area on the East side of the island, so after dropping my bags off, I walked to the local supermarket to get supplies and spotted some interests for me to check out tomorrow. My toilet is down some rather steep stairs so I'm hoping I don't need too many bathroom trips in the night, lol!
