8/8. A magical number? It is quite an important day on the astrological chart, and I woke to a soggy Brixton. I watched the jumbo jets fly past every 4 minutes to drop the passengers at Heathrow to come and explore the city.
I used to be so intimidated by it. The first time I visited I was petrified of the subway and all the colouful squiggly lines which I couldn't translate. That trip we stayed near Wembley stadium in a b&b and it was fascinating watching the people go in and out of the city doing their business.
Brixton is South of the Thames river and is bustling with many different cultures and communities. I didn't plan to go out today but realised that I needed a few things so after doing some housework and prep work, I donned my rain jacket and hat and set off.
My last visit here, my friend and I were laughing at me not having a London walk. I was constantly twisting and dodging groups of people owning the pavements while I almost apologized for being near them. It was exhausting once realised what I was doing. I think it's symbolic of my life, I've struggled to own my space. But it must be changing or permit was the rain today, but I found myself feeling 'equal to' everyone and we negotiated the appropriate direction to pass by. I even had someone apologise to me!
I didn't realise how hungry I'd gotten until I saw an ad in a shop window for sushi so decision was made. I'd been feeling rather strange, hot and almost achey, and I put it down to the long train trip, and then the housework but my tummy said, 'nope, not that'. After visiting the loo, I decided I'd best head back and sort myself out, but I found a gorgeous bookstore down a side street first. Against my decision on non physical books, due to weight and travelling, l bought 2 thinnish books, knowing I can read them quickly and leave them here.
It's also international cat day today and the resident cat took up all the counter space in the store. I tried to stroke it and it almost growled at me, I think I'm out of practice with cats, lol. I did see a squirrel jump through the tree and climb onto the flat's balcony. Initially I thought it was a monkey, then I realised that I'm in Brixton, not Durban.
I squirrelled away the rest of the day reading my books and catching up with some phone stuff. My tummy feels much better but I've got bedhead hair now, lol.
