Infection control

Saturday 21st May 2022 After realising that I wasn’t going to die after all (Thursday night had been extremely tough) I woke up early this morning. It starts getting light around 4.30am here. I tried counting the hours of sleep I had yesterday and my brain wouldn't compute other than it had been most of the day. I knew that I would have to get the day started incrementally and slowly.  I had to leave for my station by 10am so it gave me plenty of time to wean myself back into London life. I showered and realised that I was exhausted so I lay back down for 30 minutes.  6am. Time to pack. Then I rested. Down to breakfast and wondered what I would be able to chew. Scrambled egg seemed the gentlest. My tooth no longer screamed at me, but it seems like all the gunk had drained into jaw central and pushed out a bump to the world. Opening my jaw was tricky so I managed shoveling small morsels into the 'good side' and my tongue was confused with what to do. My tongue remained confused when I talked to a friend briefly on the phone and I was schluring. But I was ready to check out of the hotel and head for the station. By the time I got there I was in a bit of a 'dwaal' and realised that I just need to stay conscious until I get onto the last train. Two subway journeys saw me counting out the stops and I arrived at Waterloo station with what can only be divine guidance, haha.

I relaxed on my lovely 4 seats facing my dear backpack and wiped the sweat off my neck.  The train started moving gently out at exactly 11.09 and the skyscrapers of an unseen London loomed over the train almost as if they were saying, 'we'll still be here when you come back...'

The gentle lolling of the carriage rocked me into a skew smile and I began to appreciate the green countryside flying by. I was met at the station by my old neighbour who looks fabulous and we had a delightful afternoon of catching up and I am feeling so much better.  I have another 4 days of antibiotics left for my tooth infection and hopefully it settles. My planning is great as my next friend that I'm staying with is a nurse and her husband is a.... dentist!
