In praise of this century

It was a sizzler of a day today and I had some major head sweats while doing my 'sorting and packing' trip for my friend. Sitting in the garage with some porsches for company made it even hotter haha. Fortunately there wasn't too much to sort other than photos and chatting with my friend who was sitting in a freezing Morecambe, had a surreal feeling.

Live video on my phone still amazes my old-fashioned TV brain. We used to have to wait for the Telkom guys to come and install the telephone lines in remote areas while working on sport productions. Then the satellite chaps would arrive to get the signal out to the main control room. We were limited with testing times because it was so expensive and now I have all of it on this small device in my hand. Even if the signal drops every now and then, it's much better than trying to use a 'tiekie box' to hear my overseas family's voices. (Call box)

I finished up with my UK friend after two hours of sorting and dropped off some of the bigger items at a nearby charity store. I saw an Ocean Basket restaurant and suddenly felt like eating some seafood. But I didn't read the menu right and I ended up with all sorts of squiggly things, tentacles, feelers and a deep fried eye or two. My mistake but at least the bread rolls were yummy!

I had some more video calls and then settled down to continue my TV series binge while playing games on my phone. So I'm still in awe of this amazing invention called the internet and my gratitude continues.
