Housesitting

A side hustle that I never expected to find myself doing is housesitting. Or dogsitting.

For overseas readers, it's where kind souls (ie me) look after your home and your pets while you go on holiday. Instead of paying for kennels and dogwalkers, you pay the kind souls ( ie me) to do it for you plus the added security of someone taking care of your house. I can't guarantee that any house plants will survive though.

Today I started a 3 week cycle looking after 1 dog and two cats. The dog is young and has a bit of separation anxiety and was eyeing me up from afar. But I knew he would shift as soon as we walked. I realised that the owners hadn't left directions to the socialization park but somehow knew the dog would tell me and he did. He is so well behaved on the lead and never barked back at the gated furry friends that we walked past.

It is so nice watching him bound up to the other dogs off the leash and play a game of tag. I was recognized by Rusty and I felt quite impressed that he looked for me while playing. The other owners knew who I was because of Rusty and we had a meet and paw but I immediately forgot all the owners names.

Pleased to say that Rusty is officially impressed by me and we bonded on the couch.
