Holiday Monday

Updated: Aug 30, 2022

Monday 29th August 2022

It was a Bank Holiday today which means a public holiday in South African terms. I woke early after dreams of finding lots of money in a train ticket machine and travel, so of course I bought a lottery ticket.

After listening to the silence of the 7am holiday morning, I switched my LM radio app on in time to hear Johnny Clegg sing Scatterlings of Africa. I smiled as I pondered on what kind of Scatterling I am. Am I Scots African or an African Scot? This sparked many different thoughts that I had while running round the cemetery (again).  The air was cooler so I'd worn my long sleeved top which probably wasn't necessary, but after my initial 2km groan I settled into a run/walk that let my brain create. I promptly forgot all ideas once I got back, lol!

I managed to chat with Marlene about her Comrades run and was relieved to hear that she sounds fine with her not finishing the race this year.

The holiday feel stretched on and I am really enjoying hearing stories about my parents and sisters lives before I was born. Bernadette is 8 years older than me so she has access to many more younger years of my mum. It's like finding pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that I didn't know were missing but it makes my picture more complete.  I love jigsaws.
