Hike in the Cradle

Updated: Dec 12, 2022

Sunday 11th December 2022

I woke up early and excited today because I was meeting my running group for a hike. Sister's car has been playing up so we went in my Smartie. I was a little late so I ended up driving a little wilder than normal. Sister's eyes were wide and she kept saying 'you're such a rebel, you never do anything bad...' We got to the venue with a couple of minutes to spare but sister complained to the others about my driving, but I just laughed.  I did drive 'properly' on the way back though, lol.

Our hike was 6km in the Cradle of Humankind and the weather was perfect. Cool but dry and we could appreciate the view.  The 30 minute drive from the city opened up to mother nature and we could see the Magaliesberg hills and out towards Hartebeespoort Dam. The route was not too taxing although I was grateful to have my walking stick on a steep downhill stretch. The 'Ground' venue is under different management since I was last here and they've made it lovely.

Our breakfast afterwards was a short drive away due to the size of our group. So the 40 of us sat and celebrated the end of year and catching up with each other.

When we got home, I got into the swimming pool again but the clouds were coming in so I didn't stay in as long as the other day. After some weeding and then showering, we settled down to an afternoon on the couches,  as it should be on Sunday afternoons.
