One of the most unexpected, but delightful gifts of my current lifestyle is the way that I'm now the recipient of nice things. Last year, on my first UK summer, so many people opened their homes for me. Apart from my gracious family, friends I hadn't seen in years, even decades, all welcomed me into their homes and lives for a few days at a time. Other people have treated me to coffee, meals, city tours and great advice. I was amazed.
This year, on both sides of the equator, it's happened again. A couple of days ago, my lovely cousin offered me her paid-for hotel in Newcastle. She'd booked to run the Great North Run tomorrow but can't make it, would I like the opportunity? I think you can guess my answer.
My fever came back a little today though, which has made the sweltering weather even hotter. But it's great lying on the the bed, watching the World Cup Rugby in a hotel which is full of runners. Sadly not me, yet, still no running at all but I'll be back one day.
In the meantime, I'm living my life in the most magical ways and truly discovering how the world is filled with wonderful, good people.
