I traveled through the Highlands on a bus from Fochabers to Aberdeen today. The bus was a comfortable one like those used in touring. After the light drizzle was left behind, the clouds lifted as the bus approached Aberdeen. My late aunt used to call Aberdeen Granite City, because of the local stone used in the building, and she's right. The buildings are grey but when the sun shines, it's interesting.
My cousin came to pick me up after I'd checked into my really large room with sleeping space for 4. Susan is the youngest daughter of my mum's only brother and is just truly angelic. She's tiny too which makes me feel gigantic. But she has a heart of gold and it was lovely seeing her again after many many years.
We went on a drive to visit her brother who is near Cluny. The area is green and hilly and lush and is fairly near the estate ofthe late queen. By the time we left it was completely dark but the stars were out and the waning gibbous moon looked stunning rising over the forests. It was also a rather chilly 11 degrees so I think tonight the duvet might be staying on.
