Gifts galore.

This morning I managed a run and it was fun. I've been consciously not running so I could give my back spasm a chance to properly heal so I was very pleased to be pain free all day.

A day which turned into a marvelous day - full of gifts. The sandstone houses along the mainstreet in Oudsthoorn were even better on foot after driving by yesterday. My shower was massive and just the right pressure in the Karoo Retreat apartment. Breakfast was delivered to my room and it was delicious and healthy. As I was checking out the owner was in town and she offered me a free boat trip in Mossel Bay which I was conveniently driving to today. She also told me about the stone buildings and a divine coffee shop on High street.

The museum was open (and donation based only). The cheesecake was the perfect remedy to my healthy breakfast haha. I watched as all the pavement guests at the Cafe, chatted with the passersby - definitely a lovely sense of community. Car guards were called by name.

Bigger parking spaces.

The Outeniqua pass had a shoulder most of the way and in some places a double lane! I had the courage to stop at a view point ( I'd been very scared of looking down the mountains- a new fear for me). The mountains are jaggier (not quite a geological term) but very impressive. I think they are more used to humans than their northern cousins near Sutherland.

The mist came in after George Airport and my temperature gauge dropped by 10 degrees. Mossel Bay is a LOT bigger than 1990, plus there's an oil rig offshore. The sea came into view for the first time. My Isuzu MU-X drives like a dream.

My booking I made last night for tonight was booked for last night - argh. Fortunately they let me carry it over and I booked into my tiny stationery cabin and the wave 'machine' is loud. My Kiyana boat trip was awesome. (Look them up here)

I booked for a ghost walk tour tomorrow night with my friend who has recently moved to George.

I celebrated with a beer shandy and am looking forward to the new month. All those gifts in one day. I'm going for another run tomorrow morning ( and buying the lottery ticket)
