Gadget Fadget

Sunday 19th November 2023

I love gadgets and new shiny things. I haven't bought much lately due to my travels and budgetary restraint but I'm so excited tonight because all my 'Black Friday' stuff arrived. But the best news is that it ALL works! Yey!

I'm sitting with old style headphones on surrounding me in my music while writing this and feeling nostalgic for the days of the listening to Mike Oldefield on my brother's headphones. In the TV world we call them 'cans' and these feel like cans except these cost about 1% of the sound engineering ones. But I'm happy.

I did a voice over course earlier this year with the South African Voice Over Academy and I loved it, but I have done absolutely nothing with it yet, because, well... life! My friend in Brixton reminded me that I could be pursuing it, in fact she gave me a bit of a bollocksing because I've done nothing with it. I'm still a bit of pickler for sound, sound quality and background noises and annoying things like that, so I'm using that as a 'sort of' excuse. The panic and fear of actually putting myself 'out there' is probably the real reason but I'm ignoring that for now.

People are surprised when I say that I had a confidence problem and I was shy. I know, I'm much better now about the scary things in life but there's still a bit of hesitation. I've been listed on the Academy's website as talent - how cool is that? But there's a couple of things I obviously need to tap on and clear, haha. But a new multi coloured microphone that works on my tablet is an exciting start.

My Sunday was great, slept well, lots of chatting with family, badminton, great dinner, having my gadgets delivered and now music. I'm feeling very grateful again, life is full of magic, just remember to look for it!
