Boxing day or Family day is notoriously a day of relaxation and today I did just that.
I woke up looking at the overcast weather and wished it was raining. But rusty was waiting outside my door again so got ready for my run.
We went out and saw that the sun was indeed breaking through the clouds. I was excited to see the early morning Gautrain speed by on the tracks just in front of the heritage village. The streets were eerily quiet and I wondered how many people were nursing hangovers.
A pleasant 5km later had both of us resting on the couch.
The rest of the day was more rest and judging by the different posts on social media most people did the same.
Late afternoon, the socialization park was initially very quiet so I walked Rusty round an extra loop but as we made our way to the exit, his buddy Apollo bounded over. After a 2 day absence from the park, these two hounds were ecstatic to see each other. I love watching the animals play so well together and it's really heartwarming. It's also exhausting and he plonked himself on the floors to cool down.
My World Tour of South Africa has encountered many different animals and I love sharing space with different creatures.
