Friends and tasks

Tuesday 12 December 2023

My internal calendar was still stuck on Friday energy today and that was with my manually changing my watch. Sister woke up with the birds to go to gym and being mid summer that meant 4.30am. I was impressed and then inspired so I hopped out of bed to take my furry bed companion for a walk. It's school holidays which means that the roads were gloriously quiet and it was really pleasant walking the five kilometers round the streets. I saw a group of runners and I felt a touch of runners envy which is a great sign for me so I had a few bursts of a jog when Molly decided she wanted to hurry along.

My day felt extremely constructive and pleasant with meeting my fellow lovely tour guide/runner friend for a quick coffee before I went upstairs for my hair appointment. We chatted so much I forgot to take a picture, gasp! So he popped by the salon to humour this tin foiled conspiracy theorist friend.

His Facebook memories popped up the time I joined his 'running tour' of the city which was 3 years ago, hence the masks and my ability to run.

My hairdresser spared me a lecture on the condition of my hair, instead just smiled and welcomed me with a hug. It's a really comfortable salon and I enjoy going there.

I then managed to do some humdrum admin stuff and sat in one of the last remaining Post Offices to get my car license sorted. I was trying to not get too negative at the whole paper trail inefficiency and fortunately I got a big friendly hello when I reached the counter after my 50 minute wait.

I always say that this is the best time to see Johannesburg because many inhabitants have gone off to the coast and the crazy rush eases. My drive back proved that, by my seeing only one accident with a delivery scooter and very few taxi circus stunts across intersections. Loadshedding happened early morning too so all in all a very 'efficient' day...
