Friends and Friyay!

Updated: May 6, 2023

Friday 5th May 2023

Today was a stunning day, even with icky traffic from 3 accidents involving taxis in each of them. I was meeting friends across town so I caught the tail end of peak hour traffic.  Let's just say that it is good for the planet that I don't do traffic on a daily basis,  lol. My Smartie starts to bounce a bit too after much stopping and starting and that makes me nervous.

I got a message from my sister via the neighbourhood message group that a Jackal was seen running down the pavement in the suburb. This is highly unusual but fortunately the friends of the wild company was called in to hopefully return the animal to a safer environment for him.

My breakfast meal was a bit heavy,  I'd chosen mince on toast and the portion was huge and mince too tomatoey.  But it was good catching up with my friend. The restaurant was busy with lots of pensioners out and about which is great to see.

I had a short drive to Rosebank for my next meeting and Kennedy is a tour guide who knows all the best places. I was astounded by the art galleries that we walked through and it was such fun to pretend to know art. We had an ice cream and then I popped over to investigate the church opposite the carpark.

I was impressed. The stunning gentle form of St Theresa's church and adjacent school had my jaw drop. Designed by the architect AJC Voorvelt, about 80 years ago. Unfortunately not much detail is available online but the architect did a couple of other buildings in the 1940s. I was really impressed by the smooth red bricks and it was a lovely contrast to the blue light of the inside. I was delighted to see inside such a beautiful building.

Even though I'm no longer conventionally religious I still love churches,  mosques and all places of worship. There usually is an air of sacredness and the space feels comforting. Today's surprise had a different colour to the inside,  but some gentle blue light is obviously what I needed on this pink flower full moon.
