Friday the 13th?

Friday 13th May 2022 I'm not superstitious and I like the number 13. Today was a great day and my leaving for the UK is beginning to feel quite real. I haven't started my packing yet but I'm not stressing about that. This week was an opportunity to see as many of my friends as I could and today was no exception. I started off with a great Bowen session with my old clinic partner who managed to find a lot of very tender spots. Who knew that one could hold so much pain in the jaw? But we had a great catch up while he poked and prodded and he told me about his trail running experiences. He's doing 4 ultra runs this year and is 2 weeks after finishing 100km Ultra Trail Drakensberg.  Not bad for an ex professional rugby player who laughed at me years back when I said he could still run Comrades as a 40 year old. My next get together was a lovely lunch with my dear friend who was trying very hard to be happy for my trip while ignoring her own sadness at my leaving.  I did feel a lump in my throat a few times and I truly appreciate having such brilliant friends and support.

My socialising continued over coffee with my Scots friend, whose daughter is having a gap year working in the UK. On getting back to my base, my sister and I took Molly for a very excited walk around the block and it felt strange having no loadshedding force us to our rooms to keep warm.

I've just finished searching for walking tours of the London sewers (which is sold out for my dates) and bookmarked a few tours which caught my eye.  I used to be very intimidated by London and the underground trains but now I'm feeling quite excited about exploring it all.
