Wednesdays 4th May 2022 May the fourth(force) be with you, a Star Wars joke and greeting that somehow seemed contrary to most people I encountered today. There was a reluctance of life force this morning. I woke many times in the night and had a very wintery feel in my bnb. The windows seemed frosty but they weren't and the air was smelling very industrial-like. My decision to go run was overturned when hanging out my laundry ( yes, my machine worked!), my chest tightened with that sulphuric feeling. So I Googled to see where I could go exploring instead. There are a couple of places of interest but I stopped by at a nice coffee shop where I had the largest Belgian waffles which were surprisingly light and I finished all of it.
My timing worked out well for a 4 minute drive to pick up my friend to go to the Olivedale Oncology center, which doesn't have a power back up generator. The poor staff were juggling patients for their treatments and some of the old dears looked so tragically fragile. At times like these I wonder how I managed to ever nurse because my compassion goes into overdrive. My friend did a kind thing and let an early patient take her appointment slot and we sat and continued our 40 year catch up in the waiting room.
The drive back to Brakenhurst went quickly as the conversation took care of the miles and trucks overtaking. I was in time to get my sun-dried laundry off the line and get my dinner heated up just before loadshedding kicked in.
I might go exploring on either side of tomorrow's 11am appointment but I'm leaning towards an afternoon explore judging by the state of my tiredness now.
