After a rather painful night I sparked up early to get ready for my flight out of Durban. I didn't get to walk along the promenade, nor dip my toes in the ocean but this trip wasn't about that for me, it was about my dad and I know I will be back.
I took some more anti inflammatory meds to help me get through the flight and my plane landed early in Johannesburg. The more I looked at the earth from up above with the cotton wool clouds giving me glimpses of criss crossing pathways, the more I started to feel that I was ready to start my next chapter of my World Tour of South Africa.
After a quick lunch kindly provided by Nic, I jumped (ok carefully stepped) into my blue Bold Beauty and loaded my maps navigator to Kroonstad. The road was lovely and quiet and the country side lusciously green with overflowing rivers and dams showing the side effects of the very rainy summer.
My back was very quiet while driving fortunately and only squealed when I stopped at a service station. I was delighted to watch the fuel tank kilometers estimate, increase the further and steadier I drove. I still haven't figured out how to set the cruise control but I only sped a couple of times while overtaking some trucks. I smiled broadly remembering my fear at overtaking the huge vehicles in my Smartie last trip, but today my Bold handled the side winds like a star.
My last minute booking for my accommodation turned out to be amazing and I realised that booking on the day of travel was like my Camino trip. Trusting that the right place will appear. And to add to that, the image of a lovely school appeared across the river, the Notre Dame St Peter's school, which I will have to investigate tomorrow.
Right now my back is feeling a whole lot easier and I'm super thrilled about that.
