Another of those no name brand days were the energy is total holiday feel. I woke up tired, yes one of those days so I greeted the setting (almost) full moon, put the radio on and went back to sleep. It was blissful. Particularly as I thought about my friends and sister having gotten up at 4.30am to run a race. I spent my 40s getting up from no sleep because I'd been watching the clock the night before races. Running turned me into a morning person. Except today.
I did go for an easy 5km when the power went out at 10am. I thought it might be too hot, but it was very pleasant. I took a different route and was delighted to see a field with the Easter time flowers, Cosmos. It's such a cheerful sight and I thought about the unusual way of them coming to South Africa. During the Anglo Boer war at the turn of the 20th century, the British Army needed feed for their horses. Mexico and South America were the source of the summertime flowers and were interspersed in the bales of horse food that were brought by ship to South Africa. All along the roads, horses left their 'calling cards' which in turn led to the spread of the pretty flowers. These horse thoughts got me 'trotting' by for a moment and my run was rather pleasant.
The rest of the day, I hid from the world and did a little bit of weeding and a lot of TV. I'm grateful that I have the luxury of these days as they definitely recharge my batteries.
