It was a chilly, dull morning so I turned over and slept later than I usually do. With a loose day of no plans I toyed with what to do. There's a couple of things I need to get from a mall, but decided against the huge weekend crowds of Gateway and instead decided to go building-watching while finding lunch.
Earlier this year,on a timeshare holiday, I did my first walking tour with Durban Walking Tours and we went down Florida Road. It has loads of eateries, bars, and cafes so I headed there. It's fabulous, dahling!
Unfortunately, a solo luncher can often be ignored when it comes to being seated and after a few different places spent waiting, I finally found a special little cafe.
I was actually diverting down a side street to chase a Jacaranda tree in bloom and found it.
I am missing the definite markers of Spring (in Johannesburg) because Durban's vegetation is lush and tropical so it doesn't have the obvious shift of everything bursting into bloom.
My lunch was a delicious Chicken Tikka and a minty smoothie, both of which surprised me. The chicken being spicier and lighter than I expected and the smoothie didn't give me brain freeze, despite the cooler weather.
On my return home, I surprised myself even more by settling down to do some writing while being distracted by a whole range of finches and tits birds coming to drink and eat from the lovely garden, I look into. I don't know any of these birds so I might have to find where I packed my small bird book.
A good weekend of different things despite not running at the sea.
