Flashback on a golf course

Friday 8th July 2022

Today I walked behind professional golfers for about 15km on the Scottish Open.

The weather was sunny and windy but fortunately it stayed dry. The golf course in North Berwick has a spectacular coastal view and it was on that side where the North Sea wind slipped into my bones. There's a beautiful beach area and a lighthouse, so in between concentrating on work, I sneaked peeks of the view. Sadly I couldn't take pics while working...

The work I did was very interesting because I haven't done this role since around 1985 ( I know, haha) Handheld microphones are those big long things with fluffies on them. The fluffies block the wind a little and the length means we don't have to stand right on top of the source of the sound. I was fascinated watching the other female walking beside me because she had no concept of what or how the production is filmed. I realised that I actually do know more than I realise but I also realised that I was loving this flashback career jump.

Seeing the thousands of people show up in shorts,  dresses,  big jackets and beanies or thin strapped tops was fascinating.  Some people even brought babies in prams! When those golfers line up to hit the ball, the masses go silent. Of course, being in Scotland,  there's usually a joker quipping something after the shot.

Being in Scotland....typing that just makes me grin.
