Sunday 24th July 2022

The third Sunday of golf done. I would be doing a happy dance if it was so late and I wasn't so cold.

Today was a milder temperature day but the heavens opened and it poured. It was so heavy that play was actually stopped in order to drain the greens. It was 8pm when the last few golfers played in while Darren Clarke took the win. The TV crew were glad for a winner because by this stage nobody wanted a play-off and extend the day any longer.

I had a pleasant day of trying not to get too excited about my three week stint of work coming to an end but inside I was delighted.  We did work this week, with a gem of a youngster who had such a strong Birmingham accent but was so totally pleasant that after a while didn't notice.

With the derig happening in the cold, wet and muddy conditions, I remembered why it takes a special kind of TV crew to do outside broadcasts in the UK. I am extremely grateful for having had this opportunity but I also know that I couldn't do it full time again.

And so to sleep...
