Wednesday 2nd August 2023
A wet, cool day on my side of the equator. This weather made us feel less inclined to rush out and do anything. So we stayed in. The dogs looked bored as their 'walker' was waiting for a break in the rain which eventually did happen around lunchtime. The rain just eased long enough to stretch their legs.
I managed to stretch my brain a little by doing some research for my online tour later this month. Research is like a big puzzle. I love puzzles so I was excited to see slightly different internet search results than from my South African search engines. The recent interest in family history means that genealogy sites are fuller and links to my focus - HB Marshall, had some intriguing angles. This interest in history still surprises me, because I truly hated it at school and dropped it first when choosing subjects for my matric. But now I marvel at how humanity has survived when there has been so much brutality, wars and disease.
My sister was still reading it all on our own family tree and I laughed as she told me about my grandad going between Ireland and Scotland in the passport and ship voyage register. In three generations time, I wonder what they will think of the child-free woman going back and forth every year to South Africa and the UK. The digital footprints might give the Artificial Intelligence (AI) a far more interesting account that 'she stayed indoors all day on the 2nd of August 2023'.
However, the best of all was the salmon for dinner followed by my favourite pudding, rhubarb crumble. That might show on my future family tree because I have now registered it digitally here...
To infinity and beyond....
