Sleeping in my pod was hot, and I think I was probably a bit dehydrated because I only got up once in the night. I had to check out of that particular room at 10am snd check in another at 2pmso it meant I had to pack up and venture down the 3 flights of stairs with my backpack.
But I was up and at 'em early and did a skit outside with a selfie stick before the city woke up. You can check it out here. I think overhead the reception lady tell a guest to go and see Dean Village which I hadn't heard of so after I Googled attractions, I kept it in mind for a visit.
I stopped in at the Scottish National Museum which is stunning but it got full of school kids on holiday so I moved on to my next visit, the Writers Museum. I'm finding out so much about Scottish history which I'm hoping to retain at least 10% of knowledge but it's early days, lol. Robert Louis Stevenson was an unknown Scot to me.
By the time I left the Writer's Museum, the rain had stopped and I walked around the castle, through some graves and onto the 'newer' part of the city. The Dean Village is an old Mill part of the town which has been converted into residences. It's stunning and quiet and was s perfect setting to eat my lunch in. I was a little afraid of the steep uphill back to the main streets but I took it slowly and I was fine.
My cousin then drove me around Holyrood Palace, Arthur's Seat and up Calton hill where there are some monuments and an observatory. We ended the lovely day with a carvery and a huge Yorkshire Pudding. A busy, lovely day!
