Easy sunny Sunday

Updated: Sep 11, 2023

Sunday 10th September 2023

The sun came out and I decided to go for a walk to chase away the coughing bugs. I even wore my shorts!! The road was full of Sunday runners but not runners from the race. The Great North Run didn't come anywhere near the hotel which is just as well because I might have suffered from a serious case of fomo. I didn't want to venture too far as I was trying out some new flat shoes that were delivered to my sister's place while I was up in Scotland.

I enjoy seeing all the different styles of houses and seeing how people spend a sunny day in England. There were the usual dog walkers and the golf course nearby seemed rather busy.

I think the heat brought out the last of my fever so I lay on my bed the rest of the day, napping and watching the World Cup Rugby on the telly. Tonight's match between Scotland and South Africa felt different watching it from this side of the world. The commentary favoured the Scots of course, and I went from feeling defensive of the SA team to cheering the Scots.

Sigh, the life of an immigrant has lots of unusual consequences, especially for someone who loves both places. There was even a thunder storm later in the afternoon which made it all the more confusing. It's been a lovely weekend of doing very little which I obviously needed.

This week I'm fulfilling a young 7 year old dream of attending Mike Oldefield's 50th centenary of his debut album Tubular Bells! How fantastic!
