These early morning runs are great, but this morning it felt like summer.
The moon was still out in the west, and the sun had started it's climb in the east. Rusty had been waiting outside my bedroom door for me so he was ready for the jog.
I decided to run a different direction and we saw some Guinea fowl doing the 100m sprint, and the red billed wood hoopoe sounded startled by our presence. Rusty is such a quiet dog and doesn't bark while running, so it's the other creatures that raise the alarm. The Egyptian geese compete with the hadedas so I try not to rouse them if I can help it.
I finally got to see the heron again. After driving past the veld a few times and seeing none, I was beginning to think my 20+ on my first run here, might have been my imagination. But a couple were standing stately and quietly in the same field so I thought it must have just been a Heron Christmas do last week.
The sun created lovely rays on the dew and it was great having the day to myself for a short time when the world gets busy.
For some reason my text goes haywire after loading my pictures so instead of fighting with it, I thought I would just end it here on a high note.
25km done since I am here. If I keep this up, I will be fitter when I set off on my next chapter of my World Tour of South Africa.
