My first official morning at the sea as a non holiday maker. (Although my life can be described as a holiday, haha.)
Of course, I woke early but the sky was dull and it remained dull all day. I think the weather might be weaning me in to the humidity and heat. I never knew laundry could take so long to dry.
My body was in one of those push/pull states because for the last few months and the last few days has all been gearing up for this and I felt a rush of 'what are we doing today, where are we going?'
I took my time emptying my car and packing things away and the small room feels like mine.
My friend wrote a book on living remotely and one of the hints she wrote was; when moving around often it's good to have some personal items to help make the space unique. I don't quite think she meant fill a small car, but I am new to this, lol.
I decided to go see the sea up close and work out the running routes in the afternoon. Running around the neighbourhood on foot always helps my sense of direction so it's useful to do that as soon as possible so I don't rely on Google maps to get me back every trip. But for now, I simply obey the calm voice from my phone who tells me to take the third exit at the traffic circle.
My walk along the promenade had me smiling under my mask as it is so lovely to see residents enjoying the Sunday afternoon with loved ones and walking relaxed along the seashore. I even got an ice cream cone to celebrate and I am not really an ice cream person. The weather stayed overcast much like my very first day on Durban beach around the age of 7 when we came down to visit my newly emigrated aunt and family. I was thinking about that big circle and how it's brought me right back to this point. Life is funny like that.
