Tues 27th September 2022
All my excitement and reading of yesterday's book, 'Heidelberg to Rachan' made me sleep quite well. I even kept my duvet on most of the night and woke up to a strange dream of going into anaphylactic shock. I mentioned the word in my dream too which is quite impressive seeing as my throat was closing (dream only) and I haven't used that term since my nursing days long, long ago. But I did wake up with a start. I wondered about my dream and hoped that all my people are fine and slowly eased into the morning.
I only had to check out of the hotel at 12 and my train to Glasgow was at 2 but I'd packed my bag by 9am. I'd kept the morning 'free' in case I needed to return to the library so I was wondering if I should go explore. But my body said no, so I just caught up with some emails and relaxed.
The next thing I knew, I was on the train earlier than expected, admiring the weather being sharply sunny although there was a cutting breeze. Autumn has kicked in suddenly but I did have to peel off my jacket on the rather busy train. I marvelled at the countryside rolling by again, it always looks so different in the sun.
I was eavesdropping on some young lads on my last train and smiled as they talked about their media study course and the different modules that they preferred. The Glaswegian slang can be tricky when spoken fast, 'like, you know wha ah mean an aw...' Of course, there's words that I don't catch because.. well, age.. It's sometimes hard smiling under my straight face as I pretend I'm not listening. And I did burst out laughing once on a different bus trip. But that's for a different story, because 'right noo, am away te ma bed '
