Dream life

Monday 25th September 2023

The sun came out today so my sister and I stepped out for a short walk. We stopped at the sea and it's amazing how I immediately sighed. I'm a bit of a breath holder, so I often catch myself holding my breath while climbing stairs, or running for a phone (wait, that was in landline days). Sometimes a deep breath out is a great reminder to drop my shoulders and loosen up. My years of running certainly did help my breathing but sadly I have been rather idle on the running side. I'm blaming my feet but it's amazing how quickly I get out of the fitness habit and back into the breath holding.

The path we walked on is on high cliffs and the path goes along a caravan park. In South Africa, I know these as 'parkhomes'. I've never stayed in one, which my sister found unusual, but just never had the chance. As we walked along, we saw a sign saying 'for sale' so we had to investigate. There were a few 'show houses' open and I was really impressed. Some of the new ones have great decor and lovely kitchens, I can totally understand the appeal. Some of the bedrooms were a bit shin-banging tight but I wouldn't need all those bedrooms, haha.

As we neared the top office, a friendly salesman came out to chat and we stood with him, for about 20 minutes, at least. He heard about South Africa and we heard about his move to an hours drive away for 'peace and quiet'. He also explained the park levies which is steep and that it's a holiday park only, not full time residential. It was a useful, interesting conversation but it was time for coffee.

We walked back to the small Cafe and enjoyed the view while seeing the (mostly) retirees enjoying their brew. My parkhome visit led to hours of internet surfing, parks, levies, motor homes and narrow house boats, naturally, because that's what rabbit holes do - lead me all over!

I love seeing how people live, how they decorate their space and how creative some people are. I also enjoy looking at property and some might think of it as wasting time, I think of it as feeding the dream.

I'm looking forward to seeing what my subconscious throws into my dreams tonight, haha!
