A 4.30am wake up call to a beautiful morning in Glasgow had me excited to get going. My kind brother had volunteered to drive me to the airport and on route we went past the site where the remains of the last burned witch in Paisley are commemorated. The Maxwelton Cross sits in the middle of a busy intersection so I tried to take a photo at the last minute. It's a part of history dating back to 1697 which I want to explore in more detail later. But today my thoughts jumped quickly back to the joy of the morning.
The flight was full as it's school holidays in Scotland and the airport was very busy for 5.30am. I made my way through to the departure gate and got on my plane. I was in a middle seat between 2 big men but I showed them and used my elbows to get both arm rests from them, lol. Our arrival into a soggy rainy London was slow and as we waited a good 20 minutes for the the bay and functioning staircase, I was impressed by how patient these early morning Scots were. I met up with my cruise partner relatively easily and we set off on the wet roads to Dover.
We parked up in Dover and had a lovely tea while getting some laundry done and popped into a lovely old church with stone dating back to the 10th century. I was impressed by the town with the huge castle loomed over the cliff in the mist.
Tomorrow we check in on our cruise, which is a 9 day trip to the Norwegian calling at Bergen, Olden, Skjolden and more. The excitement is real and checking on now is proving a little trick with the sluggish internet of the Premier Inn.
I suppose the sluggishness is still faster than the non internet we'll have on the ship, lol. But now I'm ready for bed and my cruise mate is watching TV, haha.
I did manage to finish off my 5th writing project for the year although it's not been proofread yet, so if purchase it, I apologise in advance for any typos..
It's available here if you're interested in reading possibly my most emotional project so far. It's called 56.
