Today was another domestic adventure. The dark light might be helping me sleep late. I seem to wake at 6am daily, but was fortunate to get back to sleep to that dream stage of big houses, floating on staircases and imaginary friends haha. The dull weather also kept me under the covers for longer before I remembered that I was going with my sister into town, and I had to spark!
My sister does a yoga class so I went into the mall where everyone older than 50 seemed to have gathered. It was dodge the walking stick, wheels and slow motion movers in the aisles of the poundshop. What a splendid shop for South African currency. Lots of chocolate tempted me from the shelves all looking festive in the Christmas branding. I resisted.
I did find myself a summer dress for £2- that would impress my running 'wifey'. As I was looking at the clothes rack, a fellow shopper advised me that it looks far better on a body than a hanger. She'd bought one in the summer and loved it. Her recommendation clinched the sale. I love the ad hoc conversations that happen anywhere here, it's heartwarming and I'm no longer the shy, awkward person so I chat back now.
The later domestic task was accompanying my sister and her grandsons to the barbers. There I engaged with another beauty who locked eyes with me and insisted that I keep tickling her belly. This arrangement was interrupted by the 'dogwalker' and suddenly the other dog appeared in it's hairy glory. The boys haircuts took longer than I expected with lots of attention to detail and it was almost completely dark when we left the salon at 4pm.
My sister then whipped up some cold weather comfort food of cottage pie and I was back upstairs by 8pm. I've got a cheek to feel tired but I'm blaming the weather and the full moon.
