I have mentioned this before on my travels, but I'm saying it again because it's special to me. I love seeing how people live. Not holiday, or entertaining, but their actual day to day life is intriguing. Oddly enough, I never watch reality shows like Big Brother or shows with cameras following people around, because it's boring. But spending time in the midst of a family that isn't directly my creation and seeing how they handle the running of their home, is great. It may sound strange but for me it's an honour plus it always gives me new ideas on how to adapt my own life.
Today I watched my young great nephews and their mum interact and I'm in awe. She's doing a fantastic job and I love seeing how the next generation are rocking their adult life. My niece is a fabulous, well respected teacher too and people remember her in a good way as being a great teacher. My 'small' great nephews are now around the 6ft mark and the younger one has started a major growth spurt. When I arrived in May, he was a good few centimeters shorter and I love seeing them grow into gangly young lads with great manners.
I did what every child-free, crazy aunt does and challenge the older one to an arm wrestle match. I did my usual and quickly pushed his over while he was still getting ready to count. Haha. I almost caught him. Then we had the countdown and of course I had to let him win haha!
We walked along the promenade for a short bit as the sun peeked out from behind the rain clouds. My neuroma is still saying 'hoezit' which is a real nuisance as I have places to go and steps to walk. But my feet obviously are like the British trains and are on strike. So I'm listening to my body and on go-slow mode.
So go-slow that I came straight upstairs after supper to catch up on some rest with my feet raised. Easy does it.
