I think my 'current' dog, Rusty, is going to get me fit. I have about 20 days to spend with this fit, handsome boy who loves to get up early and run round the estate. He let me sleep to 5.10am, before he scratched on the door. I woke up from a travel dream and I didn't know where I was for a moment and then I heard the scratch again.
Moving round the estate, I saw the fully kitted-up fireman walking. There a couple of runners, 2 dog walkers and a lot of staff. The estate is looking splendid and I'm pleased to see that what I call Heron-corner, has not had any houses started being built yet. Although there are street lights and a fancy entrance already, we could still zoom around the rather wet grass to get to the far boundary fence.
The Gautrain whizzed by, the birds cackled and hissed and yes, those Dikkops ( Cape thick knees) do actually hiss. Some early golfers were hitting their balls, taxis were emptying their humans, shifts were changing and the early morning smokers were creating clouds.
There's a new stretch of cemented pathway next to the electric perimeter fence and I am still impressed by how obedient Rusty is. The afternoon stretch in dog park had him galloping after the birds, working out his excess tension after a wild heavy thunderstorm had dumped a load of water. He's extremely handsome but has figured out that the small box thing in my hand is a camera so is able to dodge this puparazzi.
I had to resort to taking over his shoulder photos of the clean, fresh air.
Yup, he's getting me moving, that's for sure.
