Today marks me being back in South Africa for 3 weeks. It feels like I've been back for 5 minutes or 10 years, the sense of timing is very confused. Add to that, my daily siestas where I now split the day into two and I'm so bewildered I've just surrendered. My timing now is walk/run Rusty and feed the cats. It's quite comforting to know that it's okay to just rest and chill.
And chill is meant in two senses of the word. The weather stayed cool and wet for most of the day which is perfect for TV and naps. Rusty's interior clock is amazing though. I woke a 4.55am and lay quietly waiting. Stru as Bob, 5.00am he strokes the door gently. In the afternoon he started getting twitchy early, in fact, about 90 minutes before his usual time. So I donned my shoes and saw that the weather had clouded over again so we headed out quickly to the dog park. As we got to the entrance I saw his best furry buddy, Apollo, entering the park too, what a luck. The two of them zoomed up and down getting rid of all the excess energy. The rain came down heavily just minutes after we returned to the house. I think he must have a 'dog smart phone' because he certainly knew his timings today.
My smart phone had me chatting to friends and family both near and far in between naps and walks. I was thinking about the time before the internet and how overseas calls were a luxury or an emergency. Today I could even see my sister's gifts. And then the hundreds of options of TV 'channels' for my individual entertainment- what a miracle it is. I love it.
