Digital life

Thursday 16th February 2023

Yey! My email is back. Fortunately the techie guy contacted me today and gave me guidance on what to do, although I had to wait for my sister's laptop to finalise it.

Turns out I had originally (2005) used the Gmail registered as a business domain name and they recently stopped their free option. I love the internet, but all the big guns are 'streamlining' staff and finding new ways to boost their already high profits,  And  all the criticism gets directed towards Mr Musk and his payment options,  and very little towards others. Sigh. That gets me down a different rabbit hole that I will spare you from.

In my three days of email silence I noticed a few things after the initial frustration wore off. I quite liked the lack of urgency in a way, and many years after reading Stephen Covey and his life quadrants, I found myself smiling at my life. Social media and instant messaging can quickly slide into Stephen's 'urgent but unimportant' quadrant energy. I considered what emails would I miss and realised even the few seconds of hitting 'delete' is still a waste of time and discernment.

I had to pay for the renewed Gmail account because it's now 'Workspace' so I know I won't lose this email again,  but it did teach me a thing or two about digital decluttering. And in my mid life space of getting rid of unnecessary things and stress, I have a lot of digital dieting to do in the weeks ahead. In a strange way, I'm looking forward to it.

📷 Molly features again, because I didn't leave the house, lol.
