I don't really want to write about the electricity crisis in this stunning country but with 12 hours off grid and most of that was during the day I am writing it here to remind myself for future reads.
My hairdresser today was almost in despair. It costs her so much to run the generator to blow dry hair. Another friend is closing her restaurant because the overheads are just too much... I am a little overwhelmed by the (lack of) current situation. Yet, the people still seem so cheerful and adaptable, sigh.
I had to pack up my things today which I'd spread around the place. I move tomorrow to my other sister's place to look after her 2 cats, 2 dogs and 2 bunnies. In my minimising attempt at ridding myself of accumulated excess, I only cleared two large bags of things. I refuse to count how many remain housing linen, clothes and items I'm not yet ready to release, haha. I haven't even started on my books which are being stored somewhere else.
Once I had gathered my items into separate piles, I drove to Melville to my hairdresser which is always a treat. Then on my return trip I detoured to take Molly for a quick walk. We were both rather pooped and I felt oddly dizzy so we only did a short round the block.
I loaded some bigger items in the car and waited for power to return so I could watch some more Grantchester and forget all of life's little niggles for an hour. It worked until I got the electricity notification flashing across the TV screen that I have 55 minutes to do my blog. A reminder that I'm in the 21st century chaos and not the 1950s with only a cable telephone and a radio. In spite of the craziness, I still feel thankful to be here, right now.
