I had a 4am brain session again. I tried very hard not to think but my brain went, sun's up, let's go. I lay and planned all sorts of weird things until I fell asleep again and then the PA announcer woke us at 8am. We weren't in the dock today so we had to get transported to shore from the ship in the emergency lifeboats.
It was quite fun getting in and out in the middle of a fjord. The scenery had changed dramatically again overnight and the mountains all around us had traces of snow just to add to the picture. Postcards everywhere. There was too long a queue for the bus to get us to Olden so we walked around the small village of Soel.
We bumped into the cruise couple again and we walked up towards a small church that I'd spotted from the road. Angie turned back and we parted ways for a few hours.
She was a total hero last night by performing the Heimlich maneuver on a fellow diner who was choking. I thought Angie had dashed out of the chair to applaud the rather bad karaoke singer so was very surprised by her swift movement, only to see her grab the choking lady and do her life saving. After the episode, her husband stayed on his phone and both acted like nothing had happened. When they left the restaurant the husband said 'we have to really thank you for what you did', then left. It was all rather odd and Angie and I reflected on it all in the bedroom afterwards.
I ended up sitting at the bottom of the ski lift waiting for Angie to return from her own bus trip to a tea room in Olden. Turns out she'd already gotten onto the lifecraft shuttle back to the ship. Fortunately the sun came out bright and shiny and it was a lovely afternoon.
I watched the crew load up the last two lifecraft back onto the ship and watched us pull away into the sunshine. I don't think that I'll see the sunset at 11.25pm but Angie had a snooze and has plans to try the entertainment again so we'll see.
