My lurgy seems to have broken! I woke up several times in the night and I realised that I was feeling more 'normal' on each trip to the loo. The sun played along too and was shining brightly when I got out of bed for the day. Now all we needed was for Angie to wake up, lol!
Eventually we were all ready to go get the city tour bus and I was monitoring my fuzzy head. I realised that the past week my ear was sounding vacuumy, if there's such a thing but today my ear felt clear. After parking up and walking across the Squinty Bridge aka the Clyde Arc, we hailed the Hopon bus and started our fascinating journey around the city of my birth.
I snapped pictures of places, pubs and shops that I remembered from my gap year and marveled at how pretty all the old buildings look. Some of the new builds are fascinating and it's great to see the city look so good, even if the main retail areas are struggling like a lot of UK centres.
We decided to back track for lunch to a little University Cafe, that is still owned by the original family from 1918. We had Scots pie while sitting along skinny tables in booths and afterwards we walked through some charming alley ways off Byers road which is in the West side of the city. I started feeling a bit off again so we didn't walk too long and jumped on the subway to get back to the car quicker.
It was a lovely day to get out of my bed and let some Vit D soak into my system. There's so much to see in this delightful city and it's really pushing my pride for my birth town.
