Chillin'

Thursday 9th November 2023

A day of chilling. And I don't mean the weather although it was rather chilly. The sun said hello but the North Sea wind won the battle of the coat which stayed on in the few minutes of outside walk.

The great thing about having another sister in walking distance is exactly that, walking distance. We popped in for a quick cuppa and catch up. The UK houses now are (mostly) well insulated and the central heating works efficiently too. So I usually take my jacket off while inside, unlike in the South African winters where the layers would stay firmly on.

I chatted with my 'cruise' friend who is now back in South Africa. She asked me if I'm excited about going back. I stared at her for a moment, blinking and she said it's only a few weeks. I told her I'm trying to stay present and enjoy the current moment and not rush ahead. It's hard to imagine 30°C heat when layered up, haha. No doubt I'll complain about the mosquitoes and power cuts too.

Not that I'm complaining about anything, I'm very grateful for my privilege. Plus there's dogs
