Today was sister switch day or pet pass day. By that, I mean I moved beds to look after my older sister's house and animals while she goes on holiday from tomorrow.
I'm grateful for the chance to love someone else's animals, even for a short time but it is hard saying goodbye to them. Molly in particular, pulls the saddest face and I think the cat was also aware that I was leaving. I woke early with Emily's meowing in the passage. I think she acts as Debbie's alarm clock and was making sure I don't lie in too long in the bed. I realised that we were in the middle of the 2 hour power cut, so decided to get out of bed and take Molly on a longer walk.
She was very spritely for the first half of our walk but slowed right down and a few times, stopped dead. I wondered what was going on and then worked out that in dog years, she's probably older than me. I let her sniff her ' social media posts' while I sniffed some roses and picked up some of the branches lying in the streets after last night's wild storm. I enjoy the wordless space between myself and animals. I realised that there's a strange communication between us that somehow makes sense.
After packing the Fiat up I said a quick goodbye to both beasts and left for the South west side of the suburb. It was great saying hello to the new animals and exciting that Harley the hound, seemed to recognise me. Oh, yes, plus the bonus of seeing the sister, Mary, haha. They leave tomorrow morning for the Cape so we were able to have a relaxing catch up without me having to remember too many instructions.
Over the next two weeks, you'll be seeing the new/old beasts, some sunrises, and hopefully I'll get some swimming in.
