Staying on the east side of the city, I thought I'd visit the Piston Ring market again. Thousands of motor lovers started arriving early and when I got there just after 8.30am the parking was mobbed. 90% of attendees were masculine. It was buzzing with loud exhausts revving, a band playing and kitchen demonstrators doing their thing.
The first field was full of Vintage cars which is always fascinating to see people's passion all polished up with chrome shining. There were some beauties that I'd never seen before and then there were Datsuns and beetles and anglias all taking me back to my youth.
On my way back to my car, I bumped into an old colleague who I haven't seen in 20 years. He was a cameraman who did the 'steadicam' on the big events like Miss World and rock concerts. He looked exactly the same and I think it took him a moment to figure out who I was. I'd literally just stopped in front of him when I realised that out of the thousands of men, he was someone I knew. Retired due to a leg injury from a motorcycle accident we spent a few minutes of catch up before going to my car.
I thought about how lucky I am to have this huge database of amazing people who I've been lucky enough to work with. Many fantastic shows that I have been on, kind of get forgotten as time goes on so seeing Deon today reminded me of all of it. Now in the background I have the documentary of Wrexham Football club in Wales and the two American actors that have bought into it. It's heartwarming and a lovely way to finish my Sunday.
