I haven't been out of this house since Thursday, that's 3 days of staring at the view, opening the fridge to see if the power is off and bouncing on the rebounder. The cat was less than impressed with me today because I kept waking her up to go do her business. She even hissed at me! After munching her way through two food packets of dinner she meowed her goodnight and curled in her basket.
I was constructive in writing some more too but after I ran into a pause, I started looking at some of the other writing projects that have been on hold. One of them in particular has 11 years of virtual dust lying on it and it was nagging me today because 50 000 words of a rough draft is still a big chunk of writing.
I opened up on one of my fictional characters from my Laingsburg flood story. Perhaps it was fiddling with the koi pond that reminded me but as I read my character I realised that I quite enjoyed reading it. I found some other characters written but haven't read them yet because Netflix jumped out at me.
I'm quite excited at the possibility of blowing the dust off the rest of my fictional writing and possibly doing something with it all. Yes, I know I have other projects but when I get writer's block on one book, I can pick up another. I'm varied like that haha. I also know I said that I'd like to finish my one project in November, I just didn't say of which year, lol! Plus my Laingsburg characters have been sitting on their roof for almost 12 years now so maybe it's time to get them down.
I had been writing those characters daily and feverishly when I started that project in 2011 but after I attended a writing workshop I stopped completely. It pushed all my 'perfection criticism' and I didn't feel that I was good enough. But now, I've suddenly got a renewed enthusiasm to finish it, because I want to know what happens next. I will definitely keep you posted, of course.
