Books and writers

I seem to be settling in to life here and not just experiencing the holiday feel. With a steady, heavy rain this morning, I realised that I could have a day where nothing specific is done. So I ended up at a different mall where I saw a new book store. I walked past it twice and on the third time went in. A lovely big table with chairs beckoned, so I sat down. A book teased me so I read up on a few writers and was reassured that some of them struggled with their own processes.

I almost, and I mean almost bought another book by a South African 80 year old who drove her 20 year old car through Africa. I started reading the first chapter and it moved me to almost tears. Not because it is sad, but because it felt so familiar. I held the book for a while, talking myself into not buying it.

'I am traveling light.

But I need this story

But it's extra to carry...'

I checked to see if I could buy it with my Discovery points to justify the spend but I couldn't get that sorted on my phone.

Library!

I then reasoned with myself to check it out of the library that I had seen in a different shopping center. But they didn't have a copy. So I 'kindled' it and immediately started reading it when I got home. It's a delightful read so far and I look forward to reading the rest over the next few rainy days.
