Blah day

Wednesday 10th January 2024

The year is ten days old and this morning I didn't want to get up. It was raining, cool and I just felt flat. I've become a morning person in my older age due to running through my 40s. There a crispness to a new day, almost like a sacred space which is always refreshing but today didn't do it for me. My sister had left for work hours before this and there was a twinge of guilt at my easy life.

I wrote something like this on my social media and a few minutes later a friend called me. Yes, I do sometimes answer the phone, haha. He explained that he was still sitting on his couch in his pajamas and somehow I felt less useless. So the call jolted me into moving.

Molly was very excited to see me put on my running gear. We were out the door a few minutes later and it was lightly raining. After 20 minutes I realised that I wasn’t feeling 'it' today so headed back just in time to dodge the heavier downpour.

The rest of the day was mellow, some bank admin, weeding in the garden, fiddling with the pool and playing catch with Molly.

I did have a moment of considering my work way forward and that I should take a look at my notes and projects but my computer said 'no'. South African schools only return next week so I'm blaming the holiday energy for my day of rest (again).

I'll be back...
